Researchers need help

Are you, or someone you know, donor-conceived?

Are you resident in Australia?

If so, here is an opportunity to take part in a donor research programme.

Researchers from the University of New South Wales, Australia are looking for donor-conceived people to take part in a study. They want to hear about your experiences, views and support needs in today’s world.

The aim of the research is to describe and analyse the accounts of Australian donor-conceived people in online and offline environment. This will include your understanding of donor conception identity and communities.

In particular the research will explore:

  • Any insights that can be gained by integrating social research and linguistic approaches to understanding the experience of donor conception
  • How the experience of donor conception can inform and extend theoretical understandings of belonging and related concepts, such as intimacy and affiliation.

The researchers are currently recruiting participants to take part in a short online survey and/or online interviews (if appropriate).

How do I take part?

Simply visit the research website and check that you match the selection criteria. There are two parts to this study you can potentially participate in:

  • An online survey about your experiences, views and support needs (allow 30 minute for completion)
  • AND/OR a short, one-on-one, conversational-style interview about Facebook groups for donor-conceived people.

The study has ethics approval from the University of New South Wales. The investigators would appreciate promotion of the study within your own networks to reach a wider audience of donor-conceived people.
