#InfertilityUncovered

RESOLVE, the US National Infertility Association is launching this yar’s National Infertility Awareness Week (NIAW) across the US on Sunday 21 April.

The focus of this year’s theme #InfertilityUncovered is to ‘raise awareness about the significant lack of access to family building options and emotional support for millions of women and men struggling to build a family.

In the US 1 in 8 couples has trouble conceiving or carrying a pregnancy to full term, and infertility does not discriminate based on sex, race, religion, age or even socio-economic status.

However, access to treatment in the US to treatments that can resolve the issue is not always fair and non-discriminatory, particularly in terms of economic status: e.g. for those without access to insurance coverage for infertility care or the means to pay for treatments, third-party options or adoption.

RESOLVE addresses this public health issue by providing a community to these men and women, connecting them with others who can help, empowering them to find a resolution and giving a voice to their demands for access to treatment.

Throughout NAIW, couples with stories to share will help lead a national conversation about challenges to family building and methods of resolution. Through national media, local events, social media, awareness walks, and fundraising, the US infertility community will take action to increase awareness of infertility in order to remove stigmas and improve availability for all for family building.

This is an opportunity for couples in the US to share their own infertility journey with family, friends or extended social networks. It is also a week in which US women/couples can feel empowered to talk to their employers and uncover for them the truth about the lack of access to insurance coverage and other financial support.

RESOLVE is also asking US IVF clinics to be an essential part of the week by sharing information about the medical treatments, services and options that are available to help people build their families.
