Men’s Health Week 2021

It’s Men’s Health Week, a week of awareness about men’s health. The week-long initiative runs from June 14-20, 2021. We wanted to take this opportunity to focus on male factor infertility and encourage men to seek help.

Male factor infertility has been on the rise over recent decades, with male factor now accounting for 50% of all infertility problems. Infertility affects one in six couples as lifestyle, age and the environment all contribute to the challenge of achieving a successful pregnancy.

In order to fertilise an egg, firstly the male partner needs to be able to maintain an erection, which is fuelled by the male sex hormone testosterone. This hormone also gives the general feeling of well-being. Once intercourse is achieved then the male partner must ejaculate healthy sperm that is capable of swimming (motility) to meet the egg. Once the sperm meets the egg it must be the right shape to penetrate the egg (morphology).

Male sperm can also be affected by antibodies, which prevents the sperm from sticking to the egg.

Improving sperm quality

There are many factors that can influence sperm production and simple lifestyle changes like diet and exercise can improve sperm quality. Today, we take an in depth look at Impryl® a male fertility supplement. Many male fertility supplements focus on the benefits of one ingredient or contain strong antioxidants, which can upset your metabolic balance, damaging the quality of your sperm.

Impryl®  is different because is clinically proven to increase your chances of conception. Impryl®  enables your body to maintain its natural metabolic balance and gives you the best chance of pregnancy, including those seeking assistance from reproductive technologies such as IVF.

Impryl® comes in a tablet form. It is made from activated micronutrients that help every cell within the human body, including the tiniest sperm. These micronutrients have been clinically proven to significantly improve live birth rates for couples who had previously been struggling to get pregnant.

Having activated micronutrients means they are already in a format your body can use, without them needing to be converted into an active form. About 25% of all people are unable to make the conversion, although they are probably unaware of it, so this is an important factor.

The unique Impryl® formula works by delivering balanced support to your metabolism, essential to ensure it is optimal for fertility and for the healthy growth of your baby.

You will receive three distinct benefits to your health, all of which have an important influence on fertility.

  1. Bolstered natural antioxidant defences
  2. Energy support
  3. Optimised gene expression.

Impryl® is unique as it provides balanced support to your metabolism. This is essential to ensure that you are at your optimum fertility level.

This metabolic support delivers three distinct benefits to you:

1. Antioxidant Defence

Naturally produced antioxidants prevent stress within your cells and help to maintain an optimal metabolic balance. There are two types of stress that your cells can experience, these are oxidative stress and reductive stress.

Oxidative stress is a harmful process caused when Reactive Oxygen Species (ROS), the waste toxins produced naturally, are not removed from the cells. This can your sperm, resulting in DNA fragmentation. Often, people take supplements to correct this problem, however, these supplements frequently contain strong antioxidants, which in men, can cause another problem called DNA decondensation.

When DNA fragmentation or DNA decondensation occurs within our reproductive cells, it reduces the chances of a couple achieving a healthy pregnancy and increases the chances of miscarriage.

Impryl® contains activated micronutrients that help your body to produce Glutathione (GSH), the body’s natural antioxidant and ensures that GSH is produced only when and where it is required, delivering balanced support. The micronutrients within Impryl®  are proven to help prevent both DNA fragmentation and DNA decondensation.

2. Energy Support

Every cell contains at least one powerhouse, these are called mitochondria, which produce all the energy the cell needs to function. Producing energy creates waste toxins as a by-product, these are called ROS (Reactive Oxygen Species).

The cell needs an antioxidant to remove this waste in our bodies, this natural antioxidant is called Glutathione (GSH) and it can be found within each cell. Without GSH, the cell cannot successfully neutralise these toxins, which will slow down energy production and eventually cause the cells to die. However, when GSH is present, the cell can produce a lot of energy, without slowing down, as the toxins are being removed.

Your body needs lots of energy to develop healthy sperm, to support fertilisation and an ongoing pregnancy. Any toxins produced by generating this energy need to be removed efficiently.

Impryl® provides the right amount of micronutrients to enable you to produce enough GSH, your body’s natural antioxidant. GSH is vital to keep your cells healthy and producing the optimum energy output.

GSH can only be produced by your body, it is not possible to take GSH within supplements as your digestive system will break it down.

3. Optimised gene expression, also known as Epigenetics

Epigenetics describes how your genes are expressed. Normally your DNA does not change throughout your life but how your genes show or express themselves does change. Problems with gene expression can cause various genetic diseases.

For optimal gene expression, a process called methylation needs to take place within the body on a regular basis. Methylation is essential to create healthy sperm cells to develop healthy embryos.

Impryl® contains critical nutrients that enable the cells to methylate genes. This ensures that the correct genes are expressed, which in turn gives us optimal sperm cells. Epigenetics contribute to gene expression needed to help the development of the embryo, making Impryl® an ideal male fertility supplement.

In principle, Impryl® would ideally be taken daily for life to support your metabolism and help keep all the cells in your body healthy. When it comes to fertility, men should be taking Impryl at least three months prior to conception. The recommended dosage of Impryl® is one tablet per day.

Clinical studies

Impryl® is clinically proven to help deliver a healthy pregnancy.

The micronutrients in Impryl® have shown significant live birth outcomes in clinical studies.

Clinical studies compare the effect of one product or procedure in one group of patients against another group that do not receive that product or procedure. These studies are carefully controlled and the groups of patients are matched in terms of age, symptoms, etc. Conducting these trials is the only way to confidently establish the effectiveness of a specific product.

Clinical data from multiple studies proves that men suffering from fertility problems are twice as likely to father a child when taking the active micronutrients in Impryl®.

Sperm Facts

  • The sperm is the smallest cell in the human body
  • A sperm ejaculated today first started developing about 3 months ago
  • Normal sperm production occurs just below normal body temperature, which is why the testes are in the scrotum outside the body
  • Modern diets, pollution, smoking and alcohol can cause oxidative stress, which can lead to DNA fragmentation, reduced fertility and may be responsible for early pregnancy loss.
  • DNA decondensation is when the DNA is unravelled in the head of the sperm. This can be caused by taking antioxidant supplements such as Vitamin C, Vitamin E, Selenium and CoQ10. DNA decondensation means the sperm cannot fertilise an egg
  • Routine sperm analysis looks at the number, motility and morphology (shape/structure) of sperm, however it cannot tell whether there is DNA fragmentation or DNA decondensation.
