Andreia is a multi-awarded nurse consultant, lecturer, researcher and TEDx speaker. Andreia’s mission is to improve accessibility to fertility care and support worldwide at minimal cost to populations. Combining her medical experience and her own infertility journey, Andreia founded the Enhanced Fertility Programme App. This is an evidence-based programme that improves accessibility to fertility education, support and care. With Andreia’s extensive experience in supporting patients through treatment, we are delighted to welcome her to co-present on all aspects of emotional support for infertility patients.

Tracey Sainsbury AMBICA, ACNCS, RMBACP, Fertility Counsellor

Tracey Sainsbury is a Fertility Counsellor, accredited by the British Infertility Counselling Association and National Fertility Society. Tracey provides counselling for support and implications counselling ahead of treatment for people trying to conceive and gamete or embryo donors. She is a member of the Advisory Panel for Fertility Network UK, and designs and facilitates training in fertility for the College of Sexual and Relationship Therapists and the Contemporary Institute of Clinical Sexology.

Tracey has over 20 years’ experience in the fertility sector, speaking regularly at conferences, both for professional and public audiences and is a regular contributor to fertility publications and podcasts. Prior to working within a clinic setting she worked with fertility charities and on committees for the HFEA, Fertility Network UK and the National Infertility Awareness Campaign and served on the Executive Committee of the British Infertility Counselling Association for 4 years.

Tracey feels passionately about the provision of exceptional care, both physically and emotionally for people making fertility related decisions or embracing alternate nurturing options. With Tracey’s extensive experience in supporting patients through treatment, we are delighted to welcome her to co-present on all aspects of emotional support for infertility patients.

This 5 hour seminar looks at the emotional support needed by infertility patients when they are going through treatment. This course covers:

  • Privacy and confidentiality
  • Recognising when emotional support is needed
  • Providing basic emotional support
  • Working towards certification in counselling as per HFEA requirements
  • Awareness of counselling available to patients
  • Using interpersonal skills to support patients through investigations, treatments and diagnosis
  • Awareness of when other healthcare professionals may need to get involved
  • Competent to discuss relevant support groups with patient
  • Support colleagues in complex and emotional situations
  • Holding a recognised counselling certifcate
  • Planning a strategic direction for follow up care
  • Educate and train junior team members.

After watching the seminar, attendees are asked to complete an evaluation in order to receive their certificate of attendance worth 5 CPD points.

This course is ideal for newly qualified nurses or experienced nurses who are new to fertility. This course is also useful for experienced nurses to highlight gaps in knowledge or for nurses who wish to progress to management or advanced practitioner level.
