    Dr. Mario Vega Croker, Scientific Director

    Dr. Vega Croker graduated at the top of his class in medical school before studying in New York. He trained in Obstetrics and Gynecology at hospitals affiliated with Columbia University and Mount Sinai Medical School. He was named Administrative Chief Resident in Obstetrics and Gynecology. He was recognized for his surgical abilities in minimally invasive surgery and awarded the “Special Resident in Minimally Invasive Gynecology” by the American Association of Gynecologic Laparoscopists (AAGL) and with the “Resident Achievement Award” by the Society of Laparoendoscopic Surgeons (SLS). Seeking to expand his knowledge and abilities he performed rotations and worked at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and Cleveland Clinic. During this time, he became interested in clinical research and has been author and co-author in over 25 original scientific articles. He has also spoken at over 40 international medical conferences.

    After finishing training in Obstetrics and Gynecology, he successfully obtained one of the 40 spots as a fellow in the US in the highly competitive Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility fellowship. His fellowship (sub-specialty) training was completed at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine and University of Columbia. He was directly involved in the study and treatment of couples with recurrent pregnancy loss at the Program for Early and Recurrent Pregnancy Loss (PEARL) and completed his thesis in the effects of insulin on early gestational losses. Despite his age, Dr. Vega Croker is a renowned leader among his peers, having been selected as Chair of the Society for Reproductive Endocrinology (SREI) Associates. He is an innovator that always looks for ways to improve patient care. He is proud to be a part of the Panama Fertility team.
