This 3 hour seminar explores the subject of semen sample collection. This course takes an in depth look at:

  • Preparing the clinical area
  • Ensuring privacy
  • Understanding the guidelines for semen production
  • Labelling and witnessing of sample
  • Optimum time of abstinence for good quality sample
  • Correct type of consent
  • Laboratory requirements for timing of sample
  • Identifying problems
  • History of semen analysis and implications for choice of treatment
  • Awareness of donor/recipient cycle for confidentiality
  • WHO parameters for semen analysis
  • RCOG guidelines semen analysis
  • Training needs for junior members of team.

After watching the seminar, attendees are asked to complete an evaluation in order to receive their certificate of attendance worth 3 CPD points.

This course is ideal for newly qualified nurses or experienced nurses who are new to fertility. This course is also useful for experienced nurses to highlight gaps in knowledge or for nurses who wish to progress to management or advanced practitioner level.
