This 5 hour seminar explores Intrauterine insemination (IUI). This course takes an in depth look at:
- Preparing the clinical area
- Providing emotional support to both partners during the procedure
- Preparing the patient physically and psychologically
- Understanding ovulation and semen parameters
- Understanding the position of the uterus
- Undertaking transabdominal ultrasound
- Follow up post insemination
- Managing actual and potential complications
- Manipulation of catheter and types of catheter available
- Identify pathways across fertility, primary, secondary and tertiary care
- Awareness of research to enhance procedure
- HFEA code of practice
- Advise on treatment options
- Training needs for junior members of team.
After watching the seminar, attendees are asked to complete an evaluation in order to receive their certificate of attendance worth 5 CPD points.
This course is ideal for newly qualified nurses or experienced nurses who are new to fertility. This course is also useful for experienced nurses to highlight gaps in knowledge or for nurses who wish to progress to management or advanced practitioner level.
